Yorkdale Station opened on March 31, 1978 as part of the extension of the Yonge line into North York. It serves as a major hub for shoppers and commuters alike, with direct access to the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, one of Toronto’s largest malls, and a bus terminal that connects to multiple TTC and regional routes. Its role as a northern gateway makes it a busy station, particularly on weekends and during peak retail periods.

The station’s design is functional and straightforward, reflecting the late-1970s era of TTC construction, with wide platforms and clear sightlines that handle large crowds efficiently. Above ground, the surrounding area blends office buildings, parking facilities, and the mall itself, making Yorkdale a station defined by convenience, high volumes, and its connection to one of the city’s key shopping destinations.
