Eglinton Station opened on March 30, 1954 as one of the original stops on the Yonge line, and it has grown into one of the TTC’s busiest midtown hubs. The station sits at the intersection of transit, retail, and dense residential living, and when Line 5 Eglinton opens, it will officially become a major transfer point between the subway and the new east–west LRT. This shift will anchor Eglinton as a true crossroads in the network, reshaping how riders move through midtown.
Above ground, the station connects directly into a shopping complex on the northwest corner of Yonge and Eglinton, offering enclosed access to multiple levels of retail and food options. On the southwest corner, riders can enter directly into an office tower that’s woven into the neighbourhood’s mix of workplaces, condos, and entertainment spots. With its combination of transit connections and urban density, Eglinton Station remains one of the city’s most active and evolving transit spaces.
